For my first attempt, I rolled the clay into different sized small abstract balls. I tried to make them look like rocks so that together they might appear as a nonrepresentational pile of rocks.
Although I really liked the piece I created I still wanted to take it further. I completely smoothed the figure until it kind of looked like a thick abstract chip. After having a smooth triangle shape, I still wasn’t satisfied with my work so I decided to put a hole directly in the center of the clay. This last step transformed my piece into something that I really like.
I never would have thought that 2 came from 1! Great photography, the shadows create a dialog with the piece. Shot #2 seems almost to be that the little sculpture is having a conversation with, or admiring its shadow. Good work.
