I don’t like this but I liked it a tiny bit more when I started playing with the shadows. I think its playful but somethings missing I just don’t know what.

The shadows complete your piece and make a rather static form, more dynamic. The interior or unoccupied spaces are enhanced by the shadows, in their absence we struggle to find them. This piece is more about form with light and shadow than about occupied and unoccupied space.
I really like your idea of using shadow! My suggestion is that you can add a hole on another side of the cylinder to make the second shadow. And then maybe two shadows on the wall can combine together to make something interesting!
