For this installation, I really wanted to work within my environment and limit how much I manipulated my found materials. It was important for me to use what I found in its natural form, and not take anything from the earth. Using only what I could find, I was forced to continue to reinvent and reevaluate my work. Even the sticks that I found were incorporated using whatever length I found them in.
I was really pleased to find a spot that was right by the water and wanted to subtly leave my mark for anyone who may come after me.
FANTASY WORLD
I love how eye capturing and diverse your installation is. There are so many different aspects to look at that couldn’t even be captured with one shot. Every time I look at it I see something else that you’ve done with the sticks or rocks. The spiral is really captivating along with the stack of rocks in the middle and the rocks standing straight up in the dirt. The picture that shows most of the tree really makes me want to go wherever you did your installation.
I love this piece. All the images are so cohesive and the setting of each image is very intriguing as it seems to create its own small world. The different angles of each photograph allow the viewer to understand the environment as well as the human created sculpture.
I like your installation a lot. The way you stood the rocks and made them as a spiral reminds me of the Stonehenge somehow. Imagine we all getting small and walk inside the installation. Also, I think you picked a nice setting, the installation seems to belong to this place and has been there for a long time!
One of the few installations that really works with the setting and creates a narrative that we want to follow. I agree with the last comment, that the installation seems as it belong there and perhaps was always there and we just now discovered it.
