Carving was harder than modeling to me. For this one, I wanted to make a moving thin shaped, like a cloth or silk. I started with sketches, but after I began carving, I found that the was easy to crack if I carve it thin. The piece supposed to have a bunch of holes on it. In order for it to be able to stand and not break, I only add a few holes. Carving holes is not easy for my piece as well. I was not able to hold my piece too tied otherwise it’s going to break. Also, I always destroy the bar behind when I was carving the holes in the front.

This piece is so amazing! I really love this piece and the idea of a scarf moving through the wind and I think your sketches were gorgeous. I like how interesting every angle and side of the sculpture is and would love to see it in a larger version! Every time I look at this I see it differently 🙂
I love the recognition I get from looking at the first image. I’m transported to the Thanksgiving dinner table pastries that my dad loves so much. The two slices in the center of the piece give it this effect that I love so much. I would love to see this as a huge statue that people could walk through, I think it would be such a unique different structure that people haven’t seen yet.
I really like your work! It looks different on each surface and your idea is interesting.
Nicely done, simple forms that come together and are suggestive of a natural object without being too descriptive or derivative. Good balance between the form and the texture.
