This was the piece I landed on. Basically I used clay to make simple sort of women figures. Each individual figure is masking their body in some way. This might be their face, their thighs, their stomach etc. I hung a bunch of these magnifying lenses all around each woman which is supposed to be inspecting these flaws. I”m thinking of calling this “scrutiny” or “under the magnifying glass” because I think a lot of growing up as a female means the body is picked apart. There’s a certain standard and if you don’t necessarily meet that standard people tend to point out those flaws. I also used a flashlight to spotlight many of the women.

i looooove this. So amazing and it all works together so well!! Amazing growth from your first drafts of the project. You really thought through so many aspects/details of this project and it paid off. I love how powerful the message is, while still being so visually interesting.
This is such a beautiful piece. I love those hanging glasses and their reflections on the walls. Nice color of the walls, and well nice sculpted clay figures with effective poses. I think it really shows your message.
I really like your idea of using glass! The light through the glass is so beautiful and the shadow among the white dots on the wall makes the whole piece like under the water. Your piece is amazing!
I totally agree with the others about how successful your use of glass was. I also was drawn in by the shadows being cast by both the figures and the hanging glass. I find the bottom row center space to be the most engaging, this due to the staging of the photo.
